Although fully 3D animated films are now commonplace with companies such as Dreamworks, Disney and Blue Sky Studios leading the charge, this wasn’t the case in the early 90’s.
In fact, if you ask anyone who makes the best fully 3D animated films there’s a high chance that one answer would rise above all the others;
Pixar.
What many people don’t know is that Steve Jobs helped to fund the, then, small startup studio of Pixar, which was birthed as an offshoot of employees who had left Lucasfilm. With Jobs’ financial support the studio were able to create the first fully computer-animated film; a little feature known as Toy Story.
To put it simply, without Jobs’ support we might not have had Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., Wall-E, The Incredibles, Cars, Up and so much more.
Up until his passing Steve Jobs was the largest shareholder in Pixar Animation, as well as a member of the Walt Disney Company’s board of directors.
Jobs helped give life to yet another industry which has brought so much joy and entertainment to millions around the world.
