Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman was a critically-acclaimed, English actor and director.

Rickman was well known for his versatility as an actor, his most famous roles being Hans Gruber in Die Hard and Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series.

Born in London, Rickman attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after three years of running a graphic design studio with friends.

After a long and successful career, Rickman contracted pancreatic cancer and passed away on 14th January 2016 at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife Rima.
